Krista Day and Douglas Colby were united in marriage Aug. 4, 2001, at the First Congregational Church in Lyndonville.
The 2 p.m., double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Donald Vincent.
The church was decorated with ivy and fireside baskets of wildflowers. Special music included violin selections, \"How Great Thou Art\" and \"Ave Maria,\" by Rebecca Fleshman. Vocalists Elizabeth Williams and Joe Welch sang \"Annie\'s Song,\" accompanied by organist Johanna Kennedy. Candles were lit by Keith Day and James Colby in memory of grandparents. Sandra Day and Melissa Colby read special scriptures.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory sleeveless gown with an embroidered princess-style bodice, long train and fingertip veil. She carried a bouquet of white roses, ivy and freesia. The groom wore a black tuxedo with silver vest and tie. His boutonniere was white freesia.
Kathy Armstrong, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. She wore a navy blue gown and carried a bouquet of delphinium. Serving as bridesmaids were Amy Lanoue, Gloria Grant and Rebecca Fleshman, friends of the bride, along with Sara Armstrong, Tonia Day and Kori Day, nieces of the bride. Hannah Colby, niece of the groom, was the flower girl. She wore an ivory, street-length dress, and carried a navy basket of rose petals.
James Colby, brother of the groom, served as best man. The ushers were Michael Colby, brother of the groom; Chad Clough; Jeremy Durand, Josh Hart, Eric Gagnier, and Ryan Nalette, all friends of the groom. Noah Racine, cousin of the bride, served as ring bearer. All the men wore black tuxedos with navy vests and ties.
The reception followed at the Lincoln Inn in St. Johnsbury. The three-tiered wedding cake, made by friends Barbara Bickford and Lisa Cushman, was decorated with white roses, delphinium and ivy.
Following a cruise to Bermuda, the couple reside in Bristol, Conn.
The bride is the daughter of Edward and Phyllis Day of Lyndonville. She is a 1993 graduate of Lyndon Institute, and a 1997 graduate of Lyndon State College. She is an elementary school teacher at Bethany Community School in Bethany, Conn.
The groom is the son of Donald and Marilyn Colby of Wilder. He is a 1992 graduate of Hartford High School and attended Lyndon State College for a degree in communications. He is employed as a videotape editor for ESPN sports channel in Bristol, Conn.
