Charles “Chappy” Chapman - Obituary

Charles “Chappy” Chapman, 75, of East Burke, Vt., passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 26, 2019. He was born in Chatham, N.Y., to the late Ellsworth & Doris (Burrows) Chapman.

Following high school graduation, he was drafted by the Army. During his service in Vietnam he received a number of medals and awards. After returning from Vietnam Chappy explored several professions before finding a home teaching Driver’s Education at both Lyndon Institute and Lake Region Union High School. Most recently he has been driving the students of Burke Town School on Chappy’s bus. Chappy loved his daily routine which started with his bus route at Burke Town School, continued at the East Burke Market and finished up at Dan Wyand, P.T. He was a proud member of Caledonia County Masonic Lodge #27 F.&A.M.

Charlie leaves behind his wife Barbara, a son Chad and his wife Heidi, his sister Lois Brown and her husband Wesley and their children Jeff Brown and Karen Anderson and their families, several brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

There will be no calling hours or formal funeral service. Family and friends are invited to a ‘Last Call for Chappy’s Bus’ on Saturday, June 1, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the East Burke Playground.
