FOX: Madeline R. (Hodge), formerly of Sutton, died Friday morning, Dec. 14, 2001, at The Pines Rehabilitation and Health Center in Lyndon, at the age of 82.

She was born Aug. 21, 1919, in Sutton, the daughter of Ercil and Mabel (Whipple) Hodge. She attended local schools and received her bachelor & #039;s degree in education from Lyndon State College. On Aug. 27, 1942, she married Warren D. Fox.

Mrs. Fox was a teacher for 32 years, spending 22 of those years at the Lyndonville Graded School. She also was a teacher in Sutton, St. Johnsbury and Peru, Vt. After retirement she and her husband wintered in Bushnell, Fla., and spent summers in Sutton. She had been a member of the Sutton Baptist Church, the Retired Teachers Association and the Green Mountain Grange.

Mrs. Fox loved children. Helping and teaching them brought her great joy. She also enjoyed making pottery, gardening and was known as a great cook.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Warren Fox of Sutton and Florida; her sister, Catherine Hatcher of Lyndonville; her brother and his wife, Burton and Pearl Hodge of Sutton; her sister-in-law, Geneva Harris of Lyndon Center; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jay Noll officiating. Friends and former students may meet with the family beginning at 1 p.m. through the start of the service. Burial will be in Sutton Village Cemetery in the spring.

Arrangements are by Guibord Funeral Home, located on the corner of Main and Center streets, Lyndonville.
