Jeannette Bernadette Battis, 86, formerly of Holly Street Woodsville, N.H., died April 7, 2006, at the Grafton County Nursing Home.

She was born in Fairfield, Maine, on Nov. 13, 1919, the daughter of Harold and Alice (Pooler) Lawrence. She worked as a nurses aid for the New Hampshire Home for the Elderly in Glencliff, N.H., for many years. Jeannette was a communicant of the St. Josephs Catholic Church, Woodsville.

She was predeceased by her husband John Henry Battis on Dec. 15, 1980, her brother William F. Lawrence on Feb. 29, 1984, and her sister Eva May Cloutier on Aug. 25, 2002.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Irene Gagne of Gorham, N.H., Harold Lawrence of New Hampton, N.H., Richard Lawrence of Berlin, N.H., Rene and Nancy Lawrence of Berlin, Lorraine and Bob Bedard of Enfield, Conn., Roger and Sue Lawrence of Gorham, Linda and Don Carrier of Berlin, and Geno and Dot Lawrence of Berlin.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at 11 a.m. at St. Josephs Catholic Church. Father Daniel J. Sinibaldi will officiate.

Burial in the spring at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Woodsville.

Ricker Funeral Home, Woodsville, N.H., is in charge of arrangements.
