MELCHIN: Jennette M. Melchin, 73, of 456 Under the Mountain Road, Lyman, N.H., died at her residence, Dec. 6, 2001, after a long and valiant struggle with cancer.

She was born Sept. 8, 1928, a daughter of Charles L. and Jennette M. (McFarland) Gregor.

Before moving to Franconia, N.H., in 1973, Jennette resided in Charlestown, Mass. She moved with her family to Lyman in 1977.

Previous to her retirement she was a co-owner and operator of Franstead Bakery in Franconia, and later helped operate Pinnacle Enterprise, a vending business at the top of Mount Washington, with her husband.

Surviving family members include two sons, George A. and Brian J. Melchin; four daughters, Gail A. Hanscom, Patricia A. Carroll, Robin A. Maloof and Diane M. Reid; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Gregor, and a sister, Barbara Rastellini.

She was predeceased by her husband, George, Nov. 30, 1994.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Pillsbury Funeral Home, 77 South Main St., Lisbon, N.H., with the Rev. Lyn O. McIntosh, pastor of the Shared Ministry, officiating. Interment will be in the Lyman Center Cemetery.

Arrangements are being facilitated by the Pillsbury Funeral Homes.
