Lyndon State College Upward Bound student Holden Poirier has been awarded the Dean's Scholarship as part of his acceptance to Unity College in Unity, Maine. This scholarship amounts to $32,000 over four years of college. Holden plans to pursue a career in Conservation or Wildlife Law Enforcement and will have access to unique programs at Unity should he choose to attend.
Poirier is a senior this year at Lake Region Union High School in Orleans. He has been an active member of his school and his community, including playing in the school band. He has volunteered well over 200 hours of service with the St. Johnsbury Sheriff's office, with Dufresne Group, and with the Kingdom Trails Association and Mountain Recreation faculty on the LSC campus. He has also been a key student volunteer with the Warm the Children program, and represented LSC Upward Bound at the New England TRiO Day Celebration in 2013.
Holden is the son Paul and Korena Poirier of Irasburg.
