Lyndon State College student Stephen Decatur received a $1000 Broadcast Meteorology scholarship from the National Weather Association for the 2014-2015 academic year. Decatur is a senior studying Atmospheric Sciences-Broadcasting.

The National Weather Association provides this scholarship opportunity to one talented student each year who plans on pursuing a career in broadcast meteorology. The scholarship selection is administered by the NWA Broadcast Meteorology Committee and the NWA Education Committee. Any NWA Student Member who is an undergraduate going into their sophomore year or higher in the fall is eligible for the scholarship. The award criteria included academic achievement and merit, letters of recommendation, a statement explaining why the applicant wants to be a broadcast meteorologist and their vision for the future, and a YouTube Video which includes two full on-camera weather casts, with all graphics and show elements prepared by the applicant.
