STANDING UP FOR CIVIL RIGHTS -- Second-grade students at Lafayette Regional School in Franconia, N.H. proudly show off their tee-shirts proclaiming what each student stands up for during the school's Feb. 22 Civil Rights Community Meeting. The students' "I stand up for" values include animal habitat, love, justice, a clean environment, civil rights, animal rights and peace. The backs of the shirts held a quote from children's book author Steven Cosgrove: "Never judge people by the way they look, or a book by the way it's covered; for inside those tattered pages, there's a lot to be discovered."
