Rebekah Balch Named Dell Scholarship Semi-Finalist

Lyndon State College Upward Bound student Rebekah Balch has been named a Dell Scholarship Semi-Finalist, and is in the running for an award of $20,000 to attend college at the institution of her choice and a new computer. This remarkable young woman has been recognized for her academics, leadership and involvement in community service by the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation. Established in 1999, the Foundation is committed to supporting health and education for children in the United States and around the world.

Rebekah Balch is in her senior year at St. Johnsbury Academy where she is a National Honor Society student and a member of Student Government. She has volunteered more than 250 hours in her community and with the Warm the Children program where she has helped distribute new winter clothing to the neediest schoolchildren in Orleans and Essex County. Rebekah has also been chosen to represent Upward Bound at leadership and scholastic events across New England over the last three years. She is an intelligent, driven and resilient young woman who is looking forward to exploring all the academic possibilities college will offer her in the fields of science and medicine.

Rebekah is the daughter of Randy and Robyn Balch of Gilman.
