ST. JOHNSBURY -- St. Johnsbury Academy's SkillsUSA Club is hosting a Calcutta Night fundraiser on the evening of Feb. 8. All funds raised from the event are used to send members of the Academy's SkillsUSA team to the national championships in St. Louis, Mo.

SkillsUSA is a United States career and technical student organization serving more than 320,000 high school and college students and professional members enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled, and service occupations. Academy students have performed exceptionally well in past SkillsUSA championships and look to this fundraiser as a means of continuing to participate.

Tickets for the Calcutta Night are $75 and include dinner, a dance band, and a chance to win plenty of door prizes as well as a $1,000 grand prize.

Each ticket will have a number from 1 to 100 on the ticket, which will coincide with a number on a ping-pong ball. The ping-pong balls will be placed in a machine and at 7:30 p.m. the first number will be drawn. Those whose numbers are drawn throughout the evening will be eligible to win a number of door prizes. The participant whose number is the last to be drawn will win the $1,000 grand prize.
