Unofficially (by my count) only 20 drivers who were in the top 50 in Cup points in 2014 (a mere four seasons ago) will be racing in the Cup series in 2019. They are Kevin Harvick, Ryan Newman, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch, Aric Almirola and Kyle Larson. Also, Clint Bowyer, Austin Dillon, Paul Menard, Martin Truex Jr., Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Alex Bowman, Cole Whitt, David Ragan, Michael McDowell and Reed Sorenson.
That leaves 30 guys who I believe will not be running full time if at all in 2019. Leading that list is Matt Kenseth, A.J. Allmendinger, Kasey Kahne, Jamie McMurray, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, Brian Vickers, Marcos Ambrose, Tony Stewart, Casey Mears, Danica Patrick, Justin Allgaier and David Gilliland. Remember race fans, I’m only taking four years here. The other 15 are Michael Annett, Josh Wise, Travis Kvapil, Ryan Truex, Terry Labonte, Jeff Burton, Michael Waltrip, David Stremme, Timmy Hill, Brett Moffitt, Parker Kligerman, Bobby Labonte, Alex Kennedy, Juan Pablo Montoya and Dave Blaney.
