On Jan. 3, Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt.) recognized 24 young Vermonters who are being nominated to United States Service Academies' Class of 2019. At the annual reception, hosted by Leahy in Vermont State House, nominees from across Vermont received nomination certificates signed by the member of the Vermont Congressional Delegation who nominated them to the Services Academy.

The names of the nominees from the area, selected by Leahy, Sanders and Welch through a competitive vetting process, and forwarded to the Academies for final decisions, are:

â?¢ Elijah Leroux, of Irasburg (U.S. Military Academy).

â?¢ SPC Zachary Weisinger of Lyndonville (U.S. Military Academy)
