Rescue workers remove Vincent Anker, 66, of Lunenburg, from his car after it crashed in a ditch on Route 2 in St. Johnsbury Monday afternoon. Vermont State Police said Ankner told them the 2008 Chevrolet Avio he was driving went off the road when he swerved to avoid hitting an unknown vehicle in front of him while traveling east near Fairbanks Scales at 3:10 p.m. Police said the car was not damaged and Ankner was taken to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital where he was treated and released. From left are St. Johnsbury Firefighter Mark Harpin, CALEX EMT Allison Halsey, CALEX Director Michael Wright and EMS intern Brooklyn Colby.
