Sage Pilates announced that Stephanie Singer has recently joined the training staff as a Certified Pilates Instructor. She earned her Pilates Certification through the University of Nevada Las Vegas and the DK Body Balancing Method. She is now available for appointments at the Studio located on Railroad Street in St. Johnsbury just behind H&R Block.
Originally from Hanover, N.H., Singer began her dance training with Joseph and Victoria DeChiazza, professors of dance at Dartmouth College. While dancing at the Burklyn Ballet Theater when she was in middle school, she was urged by master teacher Cheri Noble to pursue a career in ballet. Singer was invited to attend the National Academy of Arts in Champaign, Ill., where she studied on scholarship during her high school years with Royal Ballet dancer Petrus Bosman and American master teacher Robert Dicello. After high school Singer attended Alfred University and graduated with a BA in clinical psychology.
Singer has worked as a program coordinator/planner for the Dartmouth Medical School, the Northeastern Vermont Area Health Education Center and the Vermont Student Assistant Corporation.
Always a movement enthusiast, Singer discovered Pilates after back and knee injuries prevented her from participating in high impact activities. She attributes Pilates to her return to cycling, jogging and aerobics and to her increased performance. She has been practicing Pilates for seven years and obtained her Pilates Certification last fall. Singer is "looking forward to providing a fun and effective workout for her clients as well as helping those with injuries return to their favorite physical activities."
Singer lives in Danville with her husband, Scott Legendre, and their two sons Andrew and Alec.
