BERLIN, NH -- Eleven individuals who participated in White Mountains Community College's 2013--2014 Leadership North Country (LNC) program celebrated completion of their nine-month journey on June 10.
Joining over 100 colleagues and alums of Leadership North Country are: Timothy Boudreau (Bank of New Hampshire, Whitefield); Gina Brown (North Country Community Recreation Center, Colebrook); Patty Chase (City of Berlin); Denise Gagnon (Community Service Center, Berlin); Eric Grenier (HE Bergeron Engineers, No. Conway); Haven Haynes Jr. (United States Customs and Border Protection); Rick McCarten (Appalachian Mountain Club, Crawford Notch); Roland Pinette (Berlin High School); Carol Porter (Town of Gorham); Gloria Potter (White Mountains Community College); Katelyn Robinson (Northern Community Investment Corporation, Lancaster); and Charlie White (formerly Upper Valley Connecticut Hospital.)
The graduation featured a panel discussion moderated by White Mountains Community College vice president of Academic Affairs, Dr. Fran Rancourt. The panel included Jay and Kelli Poulin of Berlin, and John and Heather Holt of Dummer, two young couples who grew up in the North Country, moved away, and chose to return home to pursue their careers while raising their families.
Leadership North Country has been bringing civic minded people together since 2004 to explore the unique challenges and opportunities in our region. The call for applications for the 2014-2015 program is now open. The program year begins in October and runs through June 2015.
Each year LNC selects a diverse group of people who learn and work together for nine months, covering topics such as education, arts and culture, rural health and poverty, travel and tourism, and government and politics. Program participants gain information and experience through interactive presentations and panels, insider tours, and informed conversations with experienced leaders from a wide variety of areas.
Leadership North Country was founded by a concerned group of regional advisors and modeled after highly successful state and regional leadership programs nationwide. Here in northern NH the program is supported, in part, by White Mountains Community College and the Tillotson Foundation.
Applications for LNC are available through the WMCC website--www.wmcc.edu - under the "Workforce Development" heading. For additional information about LNC, contact Tamara Roberge, project manager at email@example.com or call (603) 342-3062.
