Christopher McCray, of Monson, Mass., has been awarded the 2014 AMS/OM and Saraswati Bahethi Scholarship. McCray is pursuing a bachelor's degree in atmospheric science and mathematics at Lyndon State College.

Twenty-two senior undergraduate scholarships were awarded this year. The scholarships, awarded for the senior year, are designed to encourage outstanding senior undergraduates to continue pursuing careers in the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. The various scholarships are based on merit and are awarded to students who have shown the potential for accomplishment in these fields.

McCray received the NOAA Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship (2013) and the Jim Cantore Scholarship (2011). His undergraduate interest is in winter weather and synoptic meteorology. McCray intends to attend graduate school and hopes to research winter weather phenomena; such as precipitation and winter weather forecasting techniques. He would like to become employed in a research-to-operations position that combines forecasting and research. McCray plans to attend graduate school.
