Megan Perry, of Derby, has been named to the dean's list for the 2014 spring semester at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. Dean's list students have attained a grade point average of 3.30 or better out of a possible 4.0 at the end of the semester.

At the University of New England 2014 Annual Biddeford Campus Awards Ceremony on April 29, 2014, Megan was honored with the Sophomore Award for Academic Excellence. She was selected for this award because of her excellence in both her academics and contributions to the community.

Megan is the daughter of Dawn and Kevin Perry of Derby, and a graduate of North Country Union High School. She is a double major at UNE: Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics, with an Undergraduate Pre-Health Professional (medical school) focus.

Megan is actively involved at the University in the Rotaract Club (vice-president fall 2013), Relay for Life, Pre-Med Club, Math Club, Franciscan Faithful church group (treasurer fall 2013). She has performed independent water-quality and luminescence spectroscopy research with the University's Professors Stephan Zeeman and Jerome Mullin.

She was one of 23 inaugural students who studied at the University of New England's (UNE) new global educational campus in Tangier, Morocco in the spring of 2014. In addition to her rigorous academics she discovered and experienced the culture and natural wonders of Morocco, Spain, and other European countries. UNE's campus in Tangier is located on the leafy campus of the American School of Tangier, the oldest American school in Morocco. The mission of the Global Education Program is to foster global citizenship by providing the opportunity for UNE students to study abroad for a semester.
