LITTLETON, N.H. -- Waiter and waitressing skills were perfected as 22 members of the Littleton High School National Honor Society served plates of turkey and all the fixings, along with big slices of pumpkin pie to the guests who attended the annual Thanksgiving luncheon at the Littleton Senior Center on Nov. 17. The center was hopping with excitement as the students and volunteers, under the watchful eye of Joan Dexter, served the group in record time.

Volunteering to serve both the Thanksgiving and Christmas luncheon at the Littleton Senior Center is an annual tradition for the National Honor Society students. "It is a good way for our students to interact with the senior citizens while giving back to the community," said Louie Babin who serves as the NHS advisor. "This is our 12th year of volunteering at the center and the positive comments the students receive from the attendees make them realize how important it is to have an intergenerational connection. These students are very active with a lot of different things, so it is extremely important for them to be able to have short little service projects that benefit both the school and the community."

The National Honor Society members will be visiting the Senior Center for their annual Christmas party on Dec. 16 when they will be once again serving lunch and entertaining the group by singing Christmas carols.
