The Red Sox Foundation will present a worldwide raffle of World Series rings. The grand prize is a set comprising the 2004, 2007 and 2013 rings. Raffle tickets, which start at $10 for 5 chances, are available online at www.redsox.com/ringraffle. The raffle will continue until June 27 at 11 a.m. The second-place prize is a pair of 2013 World Series rings. Third-place winners will receive a single 2013 World Series ring. Each ring will be personalized with the winner's name. All prizes include game tickets, accommodations, participation in an on-field ceremony and payment of tax liability associated with the prizes.
Proceeds benefit The Red Sox Foundation, the official team charity of The Boston Red Sox who's primary focus is in serving the health, education, recreation and social service needs of children and families in need across New England. Among the Foundation's many charitable programs is the New England Red Sox Scholarships Program. To continue pursuing the goal of honoring academically-talented public high school seniors who have demonstrated a commitment to community service, the Foundation expanded the Scholarship Program to include the State of Vermont in 2014. The Red Sox will award a $1,000 scholarship to one graduating senior from 10 different Vermont public high schools. Awards will be presented during a special pre-game ceremony during the 2014 Vermont Day at Fenway Park. With the support of new local partners in the future, the goal is to include more public high schools in each New England state. It's a small way that the team can reward young people across New England for serving others while reaching for their dreams.
Area high schools eligible for a Vermont Red Sox Scholarship for 2014 include Hazen Union High School in Hardwick, and North Country Union High School in Newport.
