ST. JOHNSBURY -- On Nov. 30, St. Johnsbury Academy senior Preston Merrill will be hosting a be benefit dinner to help raise money to buy shoes for children in Honduras.â?¬ The dinner is the culmination of his Senior Capstone, an interdisciplinary opportunity for seniors that serves as a culmination of all of their previous course work and a springboard into their post-secondary careers.

During his research, Merrill found that many children in Honduras lacked shoes, and as a result, had higher truancy rates at school. To address this problem, he decided to utilize the culinary skills he developed while taking Career and Technical Education classes at the Academy.

The menu for the fundraiser has its origins in Latin American foods, and all proceeds from the dinner will be going towards buying shoes for children in Plande Grande Honduras.

Space for the dinner is limited. The price for the three-course meal is $25 and dinner guests can arrange for sittings at 5:30, 6, 7 or 7:30 p.m. For reservations, call (412)-651-3063 or email Preston at.
