LYNDONVILLE -- Kids who love science and technology are invited to spend school vacation week learning about robotics and videography through the University of Vermont (UVM) Extension 4-H Tech Wizards program.

The day camp is open to all grade 4-6 students in Caledonia, Essex and Orleans counties. It will be held Feb. 24-28 at the Lyndon Town School in Lyndonville from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily, with pick up by 4 p.m.

Registration is only $25, which includes nutritious snacks and beverages. Campers should plan to bring their own brown-bag lunch each day. Scholarships are available and anyone with a parent or guardian in the Vermont National Guard or armed services may attend for free.

Register early to avoid disappointment as space is limited. Registrations will be accepted through Feb. 17. To register, or for questions, contact Cassie Tricou, AmeriCorps member, at (802) 751-8310, ext. 365, or by e-mail at cassie.tricou@uvm.edu. If requiring a disability-related accommodation to participate, call by Feb. 10.

Campers can expect a week jam-packed with science, math and technology games and activities. In addition to having fun with friends new and old, they will create videos using iPads and work in teams to build and program robots. No experience necessary.

The UVM Extension 4-H Tech Wizards program teaches kids 5 to 18 about science, mathematics, technology and engineering through hands-on activities including robotics, digital photography, GPS, rocket building and more. Activities also are designed to help kids develop life skills such as critical thinking, goal setting and communications.
