NEWPORT -- Parents, grandparents, teachers, clergy and friends gathered to honor this year's nominees to United Christian Academy's Soli Deo Gloria Chapter of the National Honor Society on May 5. The Chapter of the NHS exists to reward those students who have achieved high academic success, and who, by their actions, have exhibited commitment to Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character.
Students with a 3.5 (unweighted) grade point average were invited to apply for acceptance to the Society, and their applications were considered by the chapter's National Honor Society Committee who elected new members with a two-thirds vote.
Before the induction, UCA NHS members consisted of Megan Hosford, Rebekah Kadamus and Kelee Prince, all in Grade 12. The following students were inducted as the newest members: Andreanna Andrew, Caleb DeLaBruere, Amanda Dunbar and Jihoon Park.
These new members received membership pins, cards, and honor cords in the induction ceremony. Parents were asked to step forward to place the pins on their honor students. Each new member was asked to sign his or her name in the official Soli Deo Gloria NHS registry.
