Shopper friendly parking

To the Editor:

I set out to do my 'Small Business' shopping on 12/2. I parked on Main St Littleton, fed the meter and ran in to pick up a pre-ordered item. It wasn't ready, so I was delayed for about 20 minutes. By the time I got back to my car, I had a ticket. I had been looking forward to perusing the many wonderful shops. That ticket put a damper on my holiday mood and I just went home.

The very next day, I had an errand in St. Johnsbury. All of the meters on Railroad St. have cheerful holiday covers on them and parking is free through the holiday season. Imagine that! A town that encourages and makes possible hassle-free shopping for the small business owners. I spent far more time than I had intended wandering in and out of the shops buying gifts.

Kudos to St.Johnsbury Chamber, Select board and PD. I'd like to suggest that Littleton officials take note and follow this shopper-friendly example.
