What the Occupy Wall Street movement means to me

To the Editor:

One of the most frequently asked questions about the Occupy Wall Street movement is "What are the protesters demanding?" Many observers feel that the mission of OWS is vague and nebulous.

I don't think that demands are what will ultimately issue from the Occupy movement. What I see instead is that OWS is creating a space and platform for open discussion and that from this discussion will come real solutions.

Rather than demand change from a dysfunctional system, OWS will help to create the change from the bottom up. This is what a real and functioning democracy looks like.
