Joseph Bongiovanni of Marshfield has been appointed general manager of the Hardwick Electric Department and has assumed his new duties here.
Bongiovanni has been serving as interim manager of Washington Electric Co-operative where he had a previous tenure as general manager. Nancy Stevens, chairwoman of HED, said Bongiovanni comes with a wealth of experience in utility management including special expertise in financial matters.
Stevens said the HED board of commissioners is especially pleased to have hired someone with abilities in financial management as there is a crucial need for such skills in utility operations today.
Stevens said that William Pickens who has served as interim manager of the HED will continue with the department as operations manager.
Pickens was named interim manager after the resignation of general manager Jack E. Young in the spring of 1996.
