Torrential overnight rain that continues into this morning is causing flash floods in the Lyndon area.
The North End Driving Range in Lyndonville is now part of the East Branch of the Passumpsic River with only the distance markers and flags visible in the rising river.
Homes and businesses at the intersection of Route 5 and Calendar Brook Road are sitting in 2-5 feet of water from the cresting river.
Route 122 between McDonald Construction and the 1-91 overpass is closed due to the flooding.
Branches, trees and, shrubs floating down the Passumpsic threaten to clog the waterway under the bridge next to Gerardo's Restaurant.
"I've heard that most of the fields in town are flooded," said Lyndon Municipal Assistant David Dill. "Our guys are out checking out the roads right now."
