NEWPORT CITY -- The annual legislative breakfasts with local lawmakers will resume Jan. 12 at the East Side Restaurant, organized by Northeastern Vermont Development Association.
The first breakfast on Monday, Jan. 12 will feature all the legislators in Orleans County, with each legislator given a few minutes to comment on action in Montpelier and some time for audience questions.
It should be a lively discussion, with the election by the General Assembly of the governor already completed and the challenges this session of dealing with property tax pressures, education reform and budget deficits underway.
The next is Feb. 9, with Sen. Bobby Starr and Reps. Michael Marcotte and Mark Higley.
On March 9, Sen. John Rodgers and Reps. Sam Young and Gary Viens will comment and answer questions.
On April 13, join Sen. Starr and Reps. Vicki Strong and Loren Shaw.
On May 11, its Sen. Rodgers and Reps. Lynn Batchelor and Mark Higley.
On June 8, all the local lawmakers will be welcomed back for a general discussion of the session.
