COVENTRY — Environmentalists on both sides of the border are pleased with this week’s deal over the Casella landfill in Coventry.

On Thursday, New England Waste Services of Vermont, which operates the landfill for Casella, agreed with a local environmental group called DUMP (Don’t Undermine Memphremagog’s Purity) to new protections for international Lake Memphremagog, for local residents bothered by odors, and measures that will help environmental groups stay abreast of issues at the landfill.
