First Night St. Johnsbury still has openings for volunteers. Two Orientation Sessions are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. Both sessions are from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Universalist Unitarian Church, 47 Cherry St., across from the Catamount Arts Center. The two-hour time block is for volunteer's convenience; go at any time during the sessions.

Volunteers check buttons and will only need to work a minimum of two hours on New Year's Eve. In exchange, all volunteers receive a flashing First Night 2012 button that is good for all events and has a retail value of $30. The buttons will be available at the orientation sessions.
