It was a record fundraising year for the 31 Miles for 31 Heroes walk event in the North Country.

The man who’s been spearheading it for half a decade, John Percey, an Air Force veteran and resident of Lancaster, raised nearly $1,700 during the fifth annual walk on Saturday along Route 3 between Lancaster to Stratford Hollow and involved more than a dozen area residents joining him on segments of the route.
