LITTLETON — As its contract with Golden Cross Ambulance nears the end and is set to expire on Aug. 2, the Littleton Board of Selectmen voted 2-1 to implement an in-house ambulance service based out of the Littleton fire station.

“In Littleton, we aren’t afraid to take on new and innovative things,” board vice-chairman Carrie Gendreau said Friday. “But there is always in the back of our mind the impact on the taxpayers. It’s a pretty delicate balancing act.”
