A St. Johnsbury truck driver crashed on Interstate 89 in Williston following a medical event.
According to state police Paul A. Bristol, 68, of St. Johnsbury was driving south bound when when he lost control of his Peterbilt tractor trailer and came to rest against some guardrails on an overpass. A bystander who was below the overpass observed the incident and went to the interstate to provide assistance. With other passers-by Bristol was pulled from the truck and provided CPR.
Bristol was transported to UVM Medical Center where he is undergoing treatment. Neither speed nor impairment were contributing factors in the crash. VSP Troopers were assisted at the scene by Williston Fire, Williston Rescue, and VT DMV Inspectors.
This incident is still under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed it or provided assistance is asked to contact Corporal Andrew Leise at VSP Willistion 1-802-878-7111.
