National Grid Ventures, the company proposing a new transmission line called Granite State Power Link through the Northeast Kingdom, expressed optimism following Massachusetts’ preparation to select a renewable power project other than the beleaguered Northern Pass in New Hampshire.

On Friday, Massachusetts announced that it is prepared to select Central Maine Power’s New England Clean Energy Connect transmission line if Northern Pass cannot secure a permit from New Hampshire by March 27, according to press reports.
