Police: Woman Assaults Game Warden Detaining Her After She Stole From Price Chopper

A St. Johnsbury woman is accused of assaulting a Vermont Fish and Wildlife Game Warden who was detaining her in the St. Johnsbury Price Chopper after she allegedly stole from the store.

Sarah Cowdrey, 28, and an alleged accomplice, Breanna Repose, 36, St. Johnsbury, were cited to appear in court on charges of retail theft on Jan. 7

In addition, Cowdrey faces a charge of assault on a law enforcement officer. Vermont State Police stated that she assaulted Game Warden Lt. Dennis Amsden.

According to Trooper Jason Danielsen, on Sunday afternoon state police went to the Price Chopper store parking lot and discovered that Amsden attempted to detain Cowdrey until state police arrived. In doing so, noted the trooper, Cowdrey grabbed Amsden’s arm, causing pain.
