EAST CHARLESTON — NorthWoods Stewardship Center is hosting the fifth Westmore Mountain Challenge Saturday, Sept. 18.
Permitted by the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation, the event will traverse trails on Moose Mountain, Mt. Hor, Mt. Pisgah, Haystack Mountain and Bald Mountain, with some hikers continuing along on area roads to complete the full 26-mile marathon-length course. Registration is closed but volunteer opportunities are available both on and off the trail, for those who would like to participate. This event is primarily outdoors and well-distanced along the trail, but safety precautions will be in place to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
“This event has been an annual success, with 150 hikers each year participating and helping to raise money for ongoing trail work, forestry, and outdoor education programming by the NorthWoods Stewardship Center throughout the region,” said Kelsey Evans of the NorthWoods Center.
To participate as a volunteer, contact NorthWoods Stewardship Center at (802) 723-6551 or email@example.com.
