NEWPORT CITY — Ernest and Donna Wright of Derby took ongoing problems with wetlands on their farm fields to lawmakers Monday morning.

The couple sought to turn more than 100 acres of open land near Salem Derby Road into a hemp field, but discovered well into the preparation of the land that state environmental officials consider a large section of the land intermittent wetlands, which prevents development.
