The game warden who investigated a moose accident this morning said the driver in the accident was lucky.

Brian Vance, driving a pickup for Currier Chipping out of Corham, N.H., sustained only minor cuts to his hand. The moose was decapitated. Warden David Gregory responded to the scene in an area he called a moose crossing. He said one almost jumped in front of him when he responded to the accident.

According to Gregory, there was nothing Vance could do as he rounded a corner and found the moose in his path.

The moose's head smashed into the windshield of the vehicle. The area of the windshield that was struck was right in front of Vance. The windshield landed in Vance's lap.

"Brian was really lucky," said Gregory.

No emergency personnel were called out to the scene.
