BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A man authorities say robbed or attempted to rob three Connecticut banks has been sentenced to more than five years in prison.

Federal prosecutors say 51-year-old Vincent Jones, of New Haven, was also sentenced Monday to three years of probation.

According to prosecutors, Jones attempted to rob Key Bank in East Haven on July 31, 2017; robbed Webster Bank in Orange of nearly $5,500 on July 31, 2017, and robbed a Bank of America branch in Milford of more than $6,500 on Aug. 8, 2018.

He pleaded guilty in January to one count of bank robbery.

Jones, who according to authorities "has an extensive criminal history," has been in custody since August 2018.
