NEWRY, Maine (AP) — Officials say 19-year-old hiker is recovering from a severe head injury that necessitated her being airlifted from Grafton Notch State Park.

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife said Camryn Morton, of Gorham, fell about 25 feet while hiking the Table Rock Trail on Thursday.

A Maine Forest Service helicopter lifted her to safety after wardens, rangers and firefighters hiked to meet her. She was then transferred to a LifeFlight helicopter.

Inland fisheries spokesman Mark Latti said Morton suffered a head injury and injuries to her wrists, elbow and pelvis.
