A 50-percent drop in crime in Hollywood is being attributed to a business district's hiring of private security guards.

The Hollywood Business Improvement District was formed six months ago with a five-year goal of changing the area's seedy image and attracting new retail businesses and restaurants. It now seems drug-related activity, trespassing and other nuisance crimes have decreased over the past several months, according to business owners and the police.

This interesting California news item deserves the attention of liberals who dream up every conceivable excuse to oppose privatization.
