To the Editor:

America is faced with a choice between two visions for the future of education.

On the one hand, we have the broken promises of President Bush\'s \No Child Left Behind Act,\ with cookie-cutter standards and unfunded mandates.

On the other hand, we have John Kerry. As president, Kerry will establish a National Education Trust fund that will ensure all education mandates are fully funded, increasing the federal investment in education by 32 percent.

John Kerry will also ensure teachers have the professional development they deserve, and that teachers who meet higher standards will be rewarded with higher pay.

This year, I plan to celebrate the legacy of Brown vs. Board of Education by voting for someone who will work for educational opportunity for all Americans: John Kerry.

Sincerely,

Joanne Gafas
