Losing our post office a final blow

To the Editor:

The prospect of closing the McIndoes Post Office came as a shock to this 86-year-old woman. The building which houses it is in the Historic McIndoes Academy. It is a lovely edifice on a green lined with maple trees with ample parking both in front and back and is handicap accessible. The lobby of the post office still has the black boards and on these are messages and addresses of people who are sick, notices of meetings and drawings by children who feel free to do so. Two benches invite you to sit and visit with neighbors.

The library is also on this floor on the other side and is an important part of my life and the patrons that use it.

I receive my prescription meds via the mail and appreciate the security of having them placed in my box.
