Opposed to H. 57
To the Editor:
Dear Governor Scott,
On May 12th, Mother’s Day, I sent you the letter in the below paragraphs.. Since that time, there have been troubling reports that you may be intending to let H. 57 to pass into law. If that is the case, I strongly urge you to reconsider your intention.
The legislature recently, May 7, 2019 passed bill H 57, a state mandate concerning abortion. This was passed with virtually no media coverage, and it was understood that the Senate would take no action on H. 57 this year. This was a very deceitful and unbecoming action by the Senate toward the people of Vermont.
It’s now, Governor, in your hands, and I beseech you to seriously consider your complicity, if by your signature or failure to veto, it becomes law.
I would ask you to understand the following: the shedding of innocent blood is a defilement of the land. “So shall ye not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land” I am told there is blood at the moment of conception. “There is a man child conceived.” The eternal, immutable, unchangeable Law of God declared a man child at conception. “The life of the flesh is in the blood.” and there is blood at conception. Now, if there ever was innocent blood, would it not be that of an unborn child? “When Rebecca also had conceived…For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil.” Notice children not yet born, but conceived in the womb. Would not this constitute pure innocence if there ever was any? It is written, the Lord hates “hands that shed innocent blood.” So, to take the life of unborn children would be the shedding of innocent blood. “So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the Lord.”
Therefore, it is in your hand to forbid the shedding of innocent blood (H. 57) by your refusing (veto) to sign this pretense of law (H. 57) which attempts to legitimize the shedding of the blood of innocent unborn children. The only thing the legislature has done by H. 57 is to “..frame mischief by a law. They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous and condemn the innocent blood.”
I pray you do not sign the death bill, but veto it. May God give you the courage to stand for right. “He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.”
