To the Editor:

Open letter to Vermont senators:

I write you to ask for your support in the protection of traditional recreational uses on all of Vermont & #039;s wildlife management areas. I am not a member of any special interest group. I am a Vermonter whose heritage dates back to the 1760s and feel I am a minority in my own state.

The culture of Vermont hunting and fishing being passed on from generation to generation is an important aspect of our being. I was told, "Vermonters make excellent soldiers" by several U.S. Army drill sergeants, during my service to my country.

Most not only possess a working understanding of weaponry and safety, they also understand survival, recon, compass reading and the importance of teamwork and community involvement.
