Sanders/Ocasio-Cortez Rhetoric Nurtures Poverty

Letter to Editor:

America is losing its way. The radical left, led by Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s squad, have taken over our country. They have too much power and are driving us apart with their divisive agenda.

Sanders/Ocasio-Cortez’s squad support a $15 minimum wage. New employees aren’t productive enough to warrant it. Without training and good work habits new employees are a financial burden and unemployable for entry level jobs.

Government education fails to provide necessary skills for entry level jobs. Two thirds of high school graduates are illiterate. Sanders/Ocasio-Cortez’s squad oppose school choice which would allow parents to opt out of government schools for better options.

The entitlement agenda of Sanders/Ocasio-Cortez’s squad with free college, child care and guaranteed income destroys incentives to work. There is no place in the cosmos where increased entitlements lifted people out of poverty. Conversely, there is strong evidence a job will.

Senator Sanders continuously rants about economic inequality being a death sentence for the poor. What he and the Ocasio-Cortez squad advocates is the real culprit. Renown black economists Thomas Sowell renounced their approach years ago. The way out of poverty is restoring the dignity of work, quality education and reducing government dependency. Sowell’s approach is credible. Sanders’/Ocasio-Cortez’s squad approach is damaging as evidenced in Cuba and Venezuela. Sowell makes sense; Sanders/Cortez promotes socialism, mediocrity and divisiveness.

Frank- After reflection, the one point of your letter that is off is the minimum wage of $15 per hour as a minimum. $15 as a minimum is fair. The reason that should be minimum is it an attempt to correct the injustice of tax deductions on interest for home ownership and none for renters, It is not fair. Renters should also be able to deduct a percentage of the rent they pay from their taxable income. $15 an hour times 160 hours per month is $2,250/ month before taxes, Take out taxes in the current tax structure and that leaves the person with only about $1750/month to live on. Budget $700 for food and all that is left is about $1,050 for everything else, a two bedroom apartment now is going for about $1,200/mo. in Vermont, Our system has been built on debt and that is the real problem. The problem is the tax code, not the minimum wage. But like everything else in the past those most needy are treated unfairly.

Frank you are on target. The naming of the Democrat party "Progressive and Liberal" has shown us that it means supporting the Billionaires, destroying a functional society. The term Capitalism has been demonized for blaming all the evils that the Billionaire Cabal, partnered with the CCP and big tech who control the media monopoly and uses it to force their agenda on the rest, Progressive and Liberal has brought us endless wars, GMO crops, the movement to force all into wearing masks, suffering lock downs and being injected with Big Pharma poisons, Idealistic people have been fooled as to what the "Progressive/Liberal Party" really stands for. They hate the word "Conservative" as it has been demonized as backward when in reality it represents freedom, being good stewards, and fairness, RINOS are "Progressive Party members" in disguise. Mitch McConnell is a perfect example of a RINO and so are senators Romney, and McCain,
