Cooley Jericho Community Forest

To The Editor:

The towns of Easton, Sugar Hill, Landaff and Franconia will have warrants at our upcoming town meetings looking for town participation and support for the proposed Cooley Jericho Community Forest.

The forest is a unique 840 acres parcel of forest that is a major part of the viewscape of our communities. Upon its completion, this acreage will be protected in perpetuity for public access. It will provide for a wide array of recreational opportunities from hiking and hunting to mountain biking and cross-country skiing, among others. The forest will provide an outdoor classroom for local schools and for landowner stewardship training. Also, the project will help protect important wildlife habitats.

Towns that invest in this forest project will see financial returns over time from future forest income.
