Who’s Really Trying To Destroy Our Way Of Life?

To the Editor:

In 1971, corporate lawyer and later Supreme Court Justice Lewis Powell, wrote a secret memo to the U.S Chamber of Commerce (not to be confused with your local Chamber of Commerce). The memo provided a blueprint for corporate domination of American Democracy and the reduction of middle class power.

The memo focuses particularly on how to take over education and dominate government and politics. It also contains blueprints for dominating the courts, television, and other media, funding pro-corporate think tanks, and organizing the wealthy to undermine the middle class.

It has taken 50 years, but Powell’s goal has finally been reached!

This week, after years of decline, the American Middle Class finally holds a smaller share of US wealth than the top 1%! The middle 60% of American households saw their combined assets drop to 26.6% of the nation’s wealth vs. 27% for the top 1%.

This war on the middle class, largely supported by the Republican Party, has also been a war on democracy. We now have rampant gerrymandering, and voter suppression in Republican controlled states. Money, that tool of the wealthy, has unlimited power in our elections, and the corporation has been elevated over the individual. And all of this is supported by a highly politicized right-wing Supreme Court.

It is time for the ever-shrinking middle class to fight back!

With all due respect, please check your facts and note it is NOT all from the Republican side of the fence, but mainly the Democrats...look before you leap, sir.
