The Barnet School concert band played “Boundary Road March” and “The Star Spangled Banner” during the Veteran’s Day Celebration at the school.

Barnet School students attended a Veterans' Day Assembly Nov. 11, which was presented by the eighth-grade social studies class and featured readings, songs and recognition of the veterans present as guests.

Burleigh Huntoon, school maintenance director and a veteran of the Vietnam war, researched the history of Veterans' Day and found several readings and poems for the students to present. Barnet families have also added many pages to the school's ongoing "Veterans' scrapbook." These pages were displayed in the hallway outside the gym and will remain in place until after Thanksgiving.

Adding music to the ceremony, all students sang the Vermont state song, "These Green Mountains" and a song called "On Veterans' Day," lead by the fourth- and sixth-grade students. The Barnet School concert band played "Boundary Road March" and "The Star Spangled Banner." The performance can be viewed on Facebook on the Town of Barnet Community page.

The assembly concluded with the playing of "Taps" by sixth grade trumpeters Daelan Roosa, Isaac Hahr and Ethan Bushey, followed by a moment of silence at 11 a.m. on 11/11/11.
