East Burke School recently received a $600 grant from the Burklyn Arts Council for the school's art program.

Under the supervision of art teacher, Abby Johnson, the money will be used for the creation and sustaining of a comprehensive art program to include a darkroom, guest artists to come an teach classes and for more focused art classes that are offered in the Burke area such as pottery, figure drawing and metal arts. The grant is good news for East Burke School because it aligns with the school's new personalized curriculum.
