Good Shepherd Catholic School in St. Johnsbury opened its doors Aug. 24 to its largest group of student learners ever! With 177 students arriving with their families from Vermont and New Hampshire, all were excited to see their new classrooms and begin their day!
After being welcomed into their classrooms, students gathered in the auditorium and attended the morning assembly. Co-principals Karen Haskins and Linda Hartwell greeted everyone, spreading their excitement about the new school year, stating "it is wonderful to welcome returning students and their families as well as new students and families."
During the day you could hear the excitement of students reconnecting with their friends, lessons being taught. A second-grade student said, "I love my new class, my new friends and my teacher!"
The day ended with a cake being served and all the students and staff enjoying each other's company.
"My son came home and just could not stop smiling. He told me that he loved his new school, and only after one day he already knows that he has great friends!" shared Tammi Cady, parent of a new sixth-grade student.
